Easterlin Park

Florida is well known for relaxing beaches, fantastic nightlife, exceptional seafood and the ultimate in shopping. You may not be aware Florida is also one of the best places for RV camping. Whether you are traveling with friends or family, finding just the right campgrounds is important. Easterlin Park is one of the oldest regional parks in the state with a great central location. The park has been designated as an urban wilderness area with campgrounds, RV campgrounds and a disc golf course.

The park covers 46.6 acres with 250-year-old cypress trees an impressive 100 feet in height. Easterlin is an incredible example of the beauty of a mixed cypress forest. The scenic lake is gorgeous. The area is mostly undisturbed due to the thick ferns, cabbage palms, red maples, wild coffee and dahoon holly shielding the area. The park is included in the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. This is a statewide system covering approximately 2,000 miles dedicated to walking trails.

During the migratory months, you can observe cedar waxwings, worm-eating warblers and yellow-billed cuckoos. The park is an urban refuge to help protect the wildlife of Florida with numerous habitats preserved for the birds. This beautiful piece of nature is just a short drive to Atlantic Ocean beaches and downtown Fort Lauderdale. You can explore several different beaches by driving for about 30 minutes in numerous different directions.

Activities at Easterlin Park

Easterlin Park also offers you a wide range of activities. For your safety, you must observe social distancing while in the park and have a facial covering. Gatherings of 10 or more people for social occasions is not allowed. You can enjoy activities fun for the entire family including:

  • Individual disc golf
  • Basketball
  • Horseshoes
  • Volleyball
  • Playground

RV Camping Sites

Easterlin Park has 45 full hookup sites including your choice of 50, 30 and 20 amp electricity in addition to water and sewer. Six sites are available with partial hookups including 20 amp electricity and water. Every site features a barbeque grill and picnic table.

There are also two restroom facilities available including showers. The gate fee on holidays and weekends is $1.50 per adult with children under five free. You will discover a lot of room between the lot with most of the sites offering plenty of shade.

Local Recommendations

One of the most popular activities in the area is right in the park! Disc Golf is a popular sport and the course at Easterlin Park is loved by the campers and locals alike.

If you are anxious to see the local sights after a rousing game of disc golf, there are a lot of choices for dining and shopping. Simply drive east until you reach US 1. You will discover great food at the Piola Italian restaurant, with Trader Joes and Whole Foods located right on US 1. Orlando is just a short drive with everything you need for the perfect RV vacation. This is the home of Walt Disney World, Epcot, the Magic Kingdom, water parks, Universal Studios, Sea World and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

If you are interested in family fun, consider visiting a few of the classic attractions such as I-Drive NASCAR, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Andretti Indoor Karting & Games and Fun Spot America. If you want something a little more unique, Gatorland is one of the oldest and best attractions in Orlando. The wild rides and encounters with real animals will leave your family enthralled.

If you are more daring, try one of the zip-line adventures Florida is famous for. Stop by the American Coffee Shop for coffee and con lech or have lunch at a Kosher restaurant. You can also enjoy a quiet evening with your family by having a barbeque, enjoying the picnic table, relaxing and making plans for the morning.

Jungle Queen Tropical Isle Dinner and Show

For an entertaining evening, enjoy a Jungle Queen sightseeing cruise including dinner and a show. You will enjoy baby back ribs served since 1935. The cruise includes narration as you travel down Fort Lauderdale’s New River often called the Venice of America. Take a look at the impressive homes of the rich and famous while enjoying Millionaire’s Row. You are in for a treat once you reach the tropical isle.

This is where you will find the baby back ribs included with your all you can eat dinner. The fixings are delicious including barbequed chicken. There is live entertainment during your meal and a variety show afterward. After you have explored the exotic animals, lush greenery and gift shop, head back to your RV site at Easterlin for a good night’s sleep and more fun tomorrow.
