Lake Griffin State Park is a popular destination for those looking to get a true Florida experience. To begin, Lake Griffin State Park encompasses over 620 acres of natural lands, making it the perfect place to explore. For those interested in birdwatching or fishing, there are kayaks and canoes for rent to paddle through the open marshes. For those who need some guidance, the park offers guided tours along with more relaxing pontoon boat tours as well. Clearly, there are activities that interest all levels and types of adventurers.

Additionally, the park contains two hiking trails totaling about two miles in length. These trails wind through both swamp and sandhill giving hikers the best of both worlds. This is also the best opportunity to spot wildlife. Animals frequently spotted in the state park include raccoons, bobcats, coyotes and sometimes, even bears! One attraction that draws many to this park is Florida’s second-largest Live Oak tree which is approximately 400 years old. This is a great learning opportunity for both young and old alike.

Due to its location, there are many activities to do near this wonderful state park. One local attraction that many like to visit while staying in the park is the Eisenhower Regional Recreation Center. This well thought all museum features information and mementos about the United States, as well as the history of the military. This would be the ideal activity for curious children or history buffs looking to brush up their knowledge of the armed forces.

Another nearby attraction is the Venetian Gardens Park, located in Leesburg. On the shore of Lake Harris, this park offers fun for the whole family including activities such as birdwatching, playgrounds, and even a splash pad for the kids. There are even wooden swings by the shore that adults can enjoy on a romantic date night together.

For those looking for RV camping, there are numerous RV sites available within the park. These sites can be viewed and booked online, making the entire process quick and convenient for travelers. The sites include both water and electricity with a price of $18 per night or $126 per week. This is an affordable price for such a peaceful slice of nature in one of Florida’s best-kept secrets.

It should also be noted that the dump station is available at the campground. Showers, updated restrooms, and laundry facilities are in the center of the campground and are accessible to everyone staying in the park. There is good news for animals lovers and those bringing along their furry companions. Well behaved pets are allowed in the campground but must be kept on their leash at all times for the safety of all campers and visitors.
