Spiced Apple Cider

Camping Recipes

Spiced Apple Cider is a campfire staple for many Northerners. Here in Florida, however, it can be too hot to enjoy a steaming mug after a day at play. The traditional flavors of apple, cinnamon, and spices are equally good chilled and perfect for any time of year in the Sunshine State.

Spiced Apple Cider Ingredients

  • 1 gallon of Apple Cider
  • 1/4 of a can of frozen cranberry juice
  • 1 sliced orange
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 Tbs cloves
  • 3 star anise
  • Apple slices (optional)
  • Spiced rum (optional)

In a large deep pot, combine all the ingredients and simmer over low heat until the cider boils. Turn off the heat and let it sit until cool. Strain and transfer back into the original apple cider jug to refrigerate until ready to serve.  To serve, pour into serving glasses and float a thin slice of apple on top. Add a shot of spiced rum if you are feeling like adulting.
