The Ultimate Breakfast Smoothie
Nothing is more satisfying on the road than a Ultimate Breakfast Smoothie. Filling, healthy, delicious and with a kick of caffeine to start the day – you can’t go wrong here. These are very easy to make with just a few simple ingredients and a Magic Bullet. So easy, in fact, I have been known to pack the dry ingredients and the blender in my suitcase even when airline traveling. I grab a banana and ice at my destination, make a cup of coffee the night before to cool overnight and blend it up in the am for a tasty breakfast on the go. The recipe below makes approximately one 16oz glass so multiply for more than one person or mornings. I recommend experimenting with the ratios until you are happy with the mix. I don’t use sweetener in mine buy you may want to add a little fresh fruit, honey or other sweetener if needed.
Dry Ingredients:
- Wheat Germ – 1/4 cup
- Cocoa Powder – 2 Tbs
- Rolled Oats – 1/4 cup
- Coconut Milk Powder – 1/2 cup (fresh almond or coconut milk works great too!)
Wet Ingredients:
- 1 Banana
- Cool coffee – approximately 1-2 cups
- Ice (preferably crushed)
Topping Ideas: (not needed but fun if you have them)
- Fresh Fruit
- Granola
- Canned coconut cream
Break the banana up into the blender glass then add the dry ingredients. I have mine pre-mixed so I just shake it up, scoop out about a cup, add crushed ice to the rim then fill with the cold coffee. Blend, pour into a serving glass and add top as needed. Warning: this breakfast smoothie is addictive but so healthy you can indulge every day!
