The state of Florida is one of the most visited states in the country. It is home to an estimate of 21 million residents and offers something for the entire family. Each year, nearly 115 million tourists visit the state of Florida; and understandably so. Take Vortex Spring, for example, it is one of the best diving resorts in the country. Located just north of Ponce de Leon, this recreational area is also considered one of the state’s top diving facilities. Ponce de Leon is a very tranquil, relaxing and beautiful town. It is full of rustic charm in a rural part of the Florida Peninsula. Located just 40 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, Ponce de Leon is positioned in the Northwest part of the state. Known for its breathtaking sandy beaches, Ponce de Leon is also referred to as the town with some of the “World’s Most Beautiful Beaches: Destin, Panama City Beach, and Fort Walton Beach.

In general, Ponce de Leon is an excellent place for an overall recreational experience. Visitors can enjoy golfing, hunting, deep sea fishing, boating, camping, swimming, picnicking, walking on nature trails and the great outdoors in general. Its climate keeps visitors coming throughout the year. That makes it a great place for outdoor activities almost any day of the year.

Nestled just north of Ponce de Leon, is Vortex Spring, which is full of recreational activities and amenities. It is situated on a 420-acre playground that generates roughly 28 million gallons of what’s referred to as the crystal “gin” clear water on a daily basis. It’s a great place for deep sea diving, snorkeling or swimming in its clear fresh waters. There are diving classes available for all skill levels and needs including those with special needs.

The best thing about these waters is that the temperature is always around 68° throughout the entire year. It also has two underground water flows in the main spring, which is said to generate close to 14 million gallons of water each and every day. So if you’re ready to put your RV on some of the state’s most popular highways, it will be a trip worth taking. Just load up the RV and take a straight shot out to one of the state’s most beautiful resorts and campgrounds.

Nature Walks

For those who enjoy nature walks, there are two self-guided nature trails that lead visitors through a hardwood forest. Visitors can be exposed to the local ecology and can also learn about the local wildlife that roams about the area. For those who enjoy seasonal nature walks, they are also available and guided by a local park ranger.

Group Events

Are you planning a group event? Then you’ll love the Pavilion. The Pavilion is a great place to hold a company picnic, a family reunion, a wedding or other gathering for groups. It can accommodate up to 150 people and also has a wonderful view of the overall resort.

If you enjoy recreational campsites you’ll be happy to know that you can stay at one of the lodging facilities or you can enjoy an overnight stay in your RV. Whether you are a current resident of the area or you just enjoy traveling, you’ll find this recreational area to be very accommodating for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors.

Regardless of what part of the country you may be traveling from, getting to Vortex Springs is a breeze. It’s just one-half mile off of U.S. 90 from Country Road 181A and makes a great recreational destination for the travel enthusiast.
